Epic Games Fortnite Arenas Design Toolkit

Project Goals

Epic Games needed a design toolkit to wrap its new Fortnite Arenas level. The concept was built around players being boxed in, with only one way out you had to “Earn Your Place”.

Joseph Kiely developed two design concepts rooted in the idea of being cropped or contained. From the logo to the environment, everything was derived from these core ideas, placing key fighters inside a futuristic arena world.

An asymmetrical crop slices through the logo as an infinite 2D tech grid locks each character in its frame. Highlighted grid sections carve out space for messaging while a high-voltage lime green and cyan palette punches through the composition. The whole system pushes outward, each character on the verge of breaking free.

Boxed In

Inspired by large-scale venue screens, a walled environment with dynamic graphics wraps around each character.

The logo and environmental graphics are bent and warped, with language, symbols, and motion arrows integrated throughout. Illuminated walls deliver messaging and frame the fighters in a bold, arena-inspired world.
